Nature Action 100 investors have identified 100 companies in eight key sectors to engage with under the initiative.
The initial eight sectors included in the initiative are: biotechnology and pharmaceuticals; chemicals, such as agricultural chemicals; household and personal goods; consumer goods retail, including e-commerce and specialty retailers and distributors; food, ranging from meat and dairy producers to processed foods; food and beverage retail; forestry and packaging, including forest management and pulp and paper products; and metals and mining.
The following principles were used to identify the companies:
- The company is within one of the key sectors deemed to be systemically important in reversing nature loss.
- An analysis conducted by the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation indicates the company has a high potential impact on nature.
- The company has a large market capitalization within the sector.
- The selected companies represent developed and emerging markets.
A company’s inclusion on the list is based on these factors rather than their current actions to mitigate their nature-based risks. All companies are expected to meet the Nature Action 100 Investor Expectations for Companies regardless of their current actions.
